Ibrahim Bangura turned goal scorer in a local derby clash on Easter Monday to help secure all three points.

“Ibs”, who has captained our under-18s side and can play left back or centre midfield, also came up against a familiar face on the opposing side.

He opened the scoring for Kingstonian in the 16th minute of their 2-0 victory at St George’s Field against hosts Corinthian-Casuals, in the battle to beat the drop from the Isthmian Premier, in front of a crowd of 557.

“I enjoyed the experience,” said Ibs. “It was quite a good goal to be fair. We won the ball on the right side, then switched it to the left and I struck it from the edge of the box into the top left-hand corner."

“Reuben Collins played up top for them - we didn’t expect that! That was his first game back for a while and he did well for the amount of time he has been out.”

Academy teammate Jola Lahan was among those named on the substitutes bench for Casuals, who were relegated after defeat at Cray Wanderers on Saturday.

It was a very happy Easter weekend for striker Aaron Cosgrave. He came on as a substitute for King’s Lynn Town in the 4-1 victory at home to Kettering Town on Good Friday. Aaron went down in the penalty area and the Linnets converted from the spot for their third goal.

The forward was again brought on as a substitute in Monday’s 2-0 win at Alfreton, in which Aaron had a chance to score shortly after entering the action. However, King’s Lynn have reclaimed top spot in the National League North standings, even with a recent change in management.

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Welsh attacking midfielder Morgan Williams, as he gains further experience of senior football with Eastbourne Borough in National League South.

He came on for the last quarter of the game in Good Friday’s 2-1 win against Dartford at Priory Lane, although he also made a second half appearance from the bench yesterday and sampled defeat by a single goal at Welling United. The Sussex club occupy eighth place in the table.

Defender Ben Mason (pictured above) is in the hunt for end of season silverware with Basingstoke Town.

Last Tuesday, he started the Hampshire Senior Cup quarter-final away to AFC Porchester. Ben and Basingstoke went on to win 1-0 and set up a final four meeting at home to Aldershot Town next Tuesday evening.

The first-year professional came off the bench in the closing stages on Easter Monday, to help the ‘Stoke keep a clean sheet and earn maximum points from a 2-0 win at Thatcham Town.

Basingstoke are second on goal difference in the Isthmian South Central, having played the same number of games and on the same points total as leaders Walton & Hersham.

In the same division, Mathias Tepe played in Tooting & Mitcham United’s one-all draw with Chipstead at Imperial Fields. Fellow defender Remi Onabanjo was named on the bench for Tooting.

Forward Paris Lock (above) made his debut for Isthmian South East leaders Chatham Town on Saturday. He came on in the 1-0 victory at Lancing. Paris was also named on the bench for yesterday’s 2-0 win at home to second place Ramsgate, which attracted a crowd of 2,540.

Midfielder Kai Jennings stepped up his recovery from injury in spectacular fashion on Saturday. He scored a well-taken goal from the edge of the area for our Academy under-18s, as they beat Cambridge United 3-1 at our training ground in the Youth Alliance Merit League.
