“I was 50/50 but it was worth the risk”

Armani’s reaction after wonder strike for the Dons

Armani Little revealed he could have missed our four-goal flattening of Swindon due to injury, but it was a judgement call that paid off.

“I took a knock in the Ramsgate Cup game,” said the midfielder, after scoring our impressive second goal at a key stage in Saturday’s League Two victory. “I was 50/50 for the Swindon match, but sometimes you’ve got to take the risk and this time it paid off.”

“I’ve been working a lot in training, staying on after sessions, hitting the ball, in an effort to add more goals to my game. That’s something I’ve definitely needed to work on. The ball came to me from Jake Reeves and I thought - ‘I’m going to have to hit this’ - and thankfully it went in!

“I really enjoy playing alongside him. He’s brilliant to play in there with, I trust him, and I think he trusts me. We’ve got that good partnership and awareness of each other on the pitch - it's coming along well.”

Our work rate throughout the squad stood out in yesterday’s performance and that was something highlighted in Armani’s post-match assessment.

“It starts from the training ground during the week and preparing for this game,” added Armani “I think everyone knows their job and what’s required. Even the lads that don’t start are prepared to come on and make a real impact. It’s important that we keep ticking them off, work hard in training, and keep climbing the table.

“Omar Bugiel was brilliant. It was a great finish from him and that started us off with an early goal to set the tone. His work-rate is always good and that’s what he brings to the team.”

“Harry Pell showed that quality on the ball when he came on. It was a great pass for Ali for the third and a brilliant finish. Harry made such a good impact when he came off the bench and he’s done really well for himself.

“Josh Davison held the ball up well when he came on and took the sting out of the game, which we needed, especially towards the end when we had tired legs.”

Our sponsor’s man of the match is now focused on a trip to the north west to face Salford next weekend, before a very busy Christmas and New Year schedule takes shape for the Dons.

“We’ve got five games leading up to the New Year,” said Armani. “If we can get a few good results and a run going now we’ll be right up there, and figuring for the play-offs."
