Loan Watch: Zach rediscovers his scoring touch

Striker Zach Robinson has regained an eye for goal north of the border in the Scottish Premiership.

Having netted three times in the Scottish League Cup earlier this season and notched his first goal in the top flight last month in Dundee’s 4-0 win over St Mirren, the forward, who is on a season-long loan, was again on target at the weekend for his fifth of the campaign.

Zach scored the Dee’s third in a six-goal encounter at Fir Park, which finished as a 3-3 draw with Motherwell. He slotted the ball into the corner of the goal in the 88th minute, just three minutes after coming on as a late substitute for the visitors. Dundee are sixth in the table.

Defender Will Nightingale was denied further game time with Ross County in the same division. The Staggies match against Livingston was postponed on Saturday morning following a pitch inspection.

In midweek though, Will did play a key role in helping his teammates to three vital points as they kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory at home to St Mirren. Will completed the game, his fifteenth appearance, with Ross County currently in ninth position.

Ryan McLean shared in Kidderminster’s 2-0 win in the National League on Saturday. The winger was shown a yellow card late on, but played for 88 minutes for Harriers, in the victory over Ebbsfleet United at Aggborough in front of a crowd of 2,071. That was Ryan’s seventh appearance of his loan spell.

Woking’s game at home to Gateshead was another to fall victim to the weather, due to a frozen pitch, so there was also no weekend action for attacking midfielder Morgan Williams

“Morgs” did figure for the Cardinals in midweek though, as Woking made progress in the Surrey Senior Cup, coming back from a goal down at half time to beat Colliers Wood United 3-2.

Centre-back Ethan Sutcliffe was joined on the pitch by former AFC Wimbledon forward Obed Yeboah for Tonbridge Angels, as a late substitute at the weekend. The Kent club made the long trip down to Plainmoor on Saturday, where they lost 2-1 to Torquay United in National League South.

In the same division, Braintree Town’s meeting with Weymouth was postponed. Defender Ben Mason was yet again put up for the man of the match vote in midweek though, after the Iron won 1-0 at Stanway Rovers in the Essex Senior Cup.

Attacking midfielder Marcel Campbell returned to action from injury with Corinthian-Casuals at the weekend. He played for 72 minutes, before coming off at King George’s Field. However, the Tolworth-based club were beaten 6-0 at home by former FA Vase winners Chertsey Town in Isthmian South Central on Saturday.
