Josh relishes reunion with DJ

Former teammates reunited for the Wimbledon cause

Josh Davison is excited at the prospect of teaming up with Diallang Jaiyesimi again, after the winger almost netted on debut at the League Two leaders.

Josh knows our latest loanee from their days together at Charlton Athletic and “DJ” (pictured above) almost earned us a point with a shot on goal in the second-half, after coming on as a substitute in the London derby away to Leyton Orient.

“I’ve played with DJ for a couple of years now,” said Josh in the aftermath of our single-goal defeat. “He was lively, even having come on towards the end of the game. He gets on the ball and makes things happen.

“He nearly bagged himself a goal as well, which got cleared off the line. It just shows that whether he comes off the bench or if he starts another game, we’ve got that quality all around the squad.”

Josh also had words of encouragement for Ethan Chislett, after the midfielder was unable to convert our best opportunity of the game before the hosts got their goal.

“Chis has been excellent for us all season,” said Josh. “Normally, I’d put my house on that! For him to miss that opportunity – it happens. Everyone misses chances. You can’t put that down to just him, it’s unlucky.

“I thought we had the better chances in the game. If we’d had that final bit of quality, to take our chances, then we’d have won that. Their goal was well worked by George Moncur, but it wasn’t a clear cut chance. We had a few.”

It was another frustrating afternoon for our summer signing though, with Josh almost in need of a new top yet again from our kit man Robin Bedford.

“It’s one of those things,” said Josh. “Rocket is having a go at me after every game because of my shirt! It’s ripped to shreds. I’ve probably had to have my shirt replaced the most out of everyone in the team.”

“The referees don’t give it and you’ve got to get on with it, because if you don’t you’re just going to be moaning for the whole 90 minutes. It’s frustrating for me, because there’s not much I can do, apart from try and give it back to the opposition. I got a few fouls against me in this game and I wonder when it’s going to change.

“We’ll get back to the training ground ahead of facing Carlisle. The new signings will get a full week with us as a squad and we’ll be ready for it at home.

“We’ve got a good squad, there’s depth and competition for places. Everyone has got to be on their toes and be one hundred percent every day. There’s no slacking, because you could lose your position just like that. It’s going to be good going forward.”
