Bring on the Bantams!

Previewing another big clash

10 January 2023

The Dons have had some memorable meetings with Bradford City in the past – meaning that this weekend’s match-up is as highly anticipated as ever.

In the build-up to Saturday’s game we take a look back at some of those matches that have caught the eye for a variety of reasons.

Watch all of the goals on our Official YouTube Channel.

BRADFORD CITY 1-2 AFC WIMBLEDON

Saturday 24th September 2011

Well-taken goals from Jack Midson and Christian Jolley saw our side fightback in style to beat the Bantams just months after achieving our dramatic return to the Football League.

First Gareth Gwillim’s cross was headed into the path of Midson by Jolley, before the latter took aim and fired home a 30-yard belter to secure all three points.

AFC WIMBLEDON 2-3 BRADFORD CITY

Saturday 29th October 2016

A pulsating Kingsmeadow encounter ultimately ended in defeat for the Dons, but not before both Tom Elliott and Lyle Taylor got on the scoresheet.

Elliot’s smart finish and Taylor’s penalty had put us in control, however a late double from future Wimbledon striker James Hanson turned the game on its head.

BRADFORD CITY 0-4 AFC WIMBLEDON

Saturday 27th January 2018

A four-goal haul topped off a brilliant away day just under five years ago as Jimmy Abdou, Andy Barcham and Cody McDonald got in on the act.

First Abdou slotted home after a flowing team move before Barcham and a McDonald double added gloss to the scoreline in the second-half.

BRADFORD CITY 2-2 AFC WIMBLEDON

Our last meeting produced another classic as were denied a victory at the death following an impressive display in West Yorkshire.

Harry Pell’s first goal since rejoining the Dons saw us level the scores after Scott Banks’ opener, before Ethan Chislett’s signature free-kick appeared to have set us on our way to a vital win. However Vadaine Oliver had the final say as he headed home in stoppage time to earn a share of the spoils.
