Fab four on the road

A second successive victory

27 January 2023

Our Under-18s recovered from going a goal down in the first minute to romp to victory against Northampton Town earlier this week.

It was our first-half performance that would prove to be crucial as the Dons marched to a 4-1 win, thanks to goals by Aron Sasu, Morgan Williams, Paris Lock and Tom Wilson.

The game got off to the worst possible start for those of a Wimbledon persuasion when the hosts took the lead within the first minute.

Kenny Ndfeo was played in and fired home hard and low to put Northampton a goal up after just 49 seconds.

Despite conceding early on, the Dons were creating chances, with a goal-line clearance from a Cobblers defender keeping us at bay.

However before long we drew level in the 17th minute when a Sasu effort from just outside the area found the net.

As half-time approached, our side stepped things up a gear as we scored three goals in six minutes.

The in-form Williams gave us the lead when he made no mistake when the ball fell to him from 12 yards. Lock, who bagged a brace last time out, then scored from close range in a frantic 60 seconds. Wilson would get in on the act, scoring just before the referee’s whistle was blown.

Northampton were quick out of the blocks as the second-half started and within the first five minutes of the game restarting they pulled a goal back thanks to a classy strike from Reuben Wyatt.

The hosts almost had another but were denied by Harry Griffiths who pulled off a strong-handed save from Kai O’Keefe to push the ball away from danger.

Chances were at a premium in the second 45 minutes, meaning we closed out the game with ease as we headed home to London with maximum points.

AFC Wimbledon: Harry Griffiths, Ibrahim Bangura, Leo Young, Jola Lahan, Mathias Tepe, Marcel Campbell (Harry Sidwell), Morgan Williams, Reuben Amissah (Sean Sankanu), Paris Lock, Tom Wilson, Aron Sasu
