Woody encouraged by triple swoop

Captain comes through ninety minutes

Alex Woodyard believes that our trio of new signings can make a real impact during the second half of the season.

Midfielders Armani Little and Sam Pearson and forward Ali Al-Hamadi all made their home debuts in our draw versus Bradford City, as we kept yet another clean sheet and claimed a point.

“All three lads showed what they are going to bring to the group,” said skipper Woody. “They’re three good additions and hopefully they can help us kick on, so that we get where we want to be."

Woody missed our draw up at Crewe the previous weekend, as manager Johnnie Jackson didn’t want to risk his tight hamstring, but he came through the full 90 minutes at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

“It seemed okay,” reported Woody. “We’ll see how I recover and how it is over the next couple of days, but it felt okay.”

As for another competitive encounter between the two clubs, Woody felt we should have come away with a greater points haul from the two meetings this season.

“It was a good League Two game,” added Woody. “Personally, I thought we edged it. We couldn’t get the goal I felt we deserved, but they are a good side. They defended well for the last quarter of an hour when they were down to 10 men.  It was a good performance by us, but I’m disappointed because I felt we deserved all three points."

“We took it to them in both games. They are a big club, but over the course of two games we probably deserved more points.

“As it always is at home, there was an electric atmosphere. The fans are with us all the way to the last minute, so credit to them. They are coming week in, week out, so they are obviously enjoying what they are seeing. Long may that continue.”
