Josh aims to channel ruthless streak

Wimbledon striker demands even more from himself

Josh Davison has pinpointed the area he wants to work on after an impressive debut season for the Dons.

The striker reached double figures, having joined us just under a year ago from Charlton. He opened his account for this pre-season from the penalty spot with our second, in the 4-0 victory at Imber Court as the Dons made it back-to-back wins.

“Me personally, I feel like I’ve got to be more ruthless and demand more from myself in terms of goals and get in the right areas,” said Josh.

“I feel like in the first two games I’ve been doing that, getting in between the posts instead of out wide. Personally, that’s one thing I want to work on going into the season and be ready for the big kick-off.

Josh praised his namesake and can see potential in one of our nine additions this summer for his role in earning the spot kick against Metropolitan Police.

“The one thing you know about Josh Neufville is that he’s going to threaten by getting in behind. He’s quick and he’ll make things happen. Just there and then, he won the penalty from a ball over the top and it was as simple as that.”

Academy graduate Paris Lock opened the scoring in the first half, and as well as both Josh Davison and Neufville getting on the scoresheet, there was also a spectacular free-kick from Jake Reeves for our third goal.

“Paris is a good, young player,” said Josh. “I’d have to say it’s the most I’ve seen of him, but he seems  a good lad. If he keeps going, grafts and puts his head down -  he’s got a bright future ahead of him.

“It was also good to see Huseyin Biler back out there. He always gives one hundred percent and sometimes it gets him in a pickle! It’s good to have him in the team though, because you know what you’re getting out of him. He’s not afraid to put a tackle in for someone of his size, as he puts himself about.

“You know what Jake Reeves brings to a team - I’ve played against him enough times. To have him on our side now is only going to benefit us this season. He’s a good professional to have around the place as well.”
