Morgan Williams is determined to make his mark at senior level after getting a taste for things to come in our last three pre-season friendlies.
The young playmaker was one of three Academy players to put pen to paper on professional contracts this summer – along with Aron Sasu and Paris Lock – and as he explained, is enjoying making the step up with his teammates.
“Coming through with those boys is great. I’ve played with them growing up,” said Morgan. “It’s amazing to play alongside them in front of our fans. You don’t get to play in front of the fans all the time at youth level, it’s a new experience. They’re such a great group of supporters that come in their numbers.

“It’s been really good. The boys have all settled in really well. There’s things we’re working on that we need to implement moving forwards but overall it’s all very positive. Three clean sheets in three is especially pleasing.”
Morgan has largely played as part of a midfield two in our opening warm-up games against Reading, Met Police and most recently Woking – giving him the chance to build partnerships with some of the more experienced members of our squad.
It’s clear to see that the midfielder feels this is invaluable to his development, particularly after being in and around the squad on our tour of Spain.
“I feel comfortable playing alongside like the likes of Reevesy (Jake Reeves) and Pelly (Harry Pell). I was familiar with the first-team environment before but to come into it full-time has been really enjoyable. I feel part of the team, on and off the pitch.
“The weather combined with the training was tough and gruelling but it’s good to come out of it with a reward on the pitch. We look strong, fit and sharp."
