In just seven days time Wimbledon fans will be once again scrambling for their pens and calendars as we plot out the 2023/24 season on EFL Fixture Release Day.
On Thursday 22 June at 9am sharp those all-important clashes will be confirmed, bringing back the usual feelings of pre-campaign optimism that gets fans dreaming all over the country.
Whether it’s a local derby under the Plough Lane lights on a Tuesday night or a long away trip up north on a Saturday, we’ll be there. Win, lose or draw you always come back for more. After all, supporting our Club through thick and thin is what we do best.
Here we take a look at the fixtures, facts and figures that make up a season.
CLOCKING UP THE MILES
Wimbledon fans will travel a total of over 3,725 miles during our League Two campaign.
A LONG WAY FROM HOME
The furthest we will travel in the league is to Barrow AFC’s Holker Street, with the venue being a massive 299 miles away from Plough Lane.
We’ll be hoping for a better outcome in Cumbria this time around, having lost out 2-1 on our last visit to the ground back in March of this year.
ALL ABOARD
The venue with the closest railway station to it is Sutton United’s Gander Green Lane, with West Sutton Station being just a two-minute walk from the ground.
CLOSE CONNECTIONS
As many a Wimbledon fan will know, Sutton are also the closest opponents to our doorstep, with just 5.4 miles separating the Cherry Red Records Stadium and the home of the U’s.
FOOTY SCRAN
Morecambe have won awards for their much-talked about pies, whilst Forest Green Rovers offer a uniquely vegan menu – underlining the variety in League Two.
Of course, when we’re not on our travels Plough Lane provides our popular Food Park that offers a wide array of different cuisines.
WE’VE MET BEFORE
Accrington Stanley are the club that we’ve faced the most times in League Two since reforming, having met 12 times at this level in the past.
Where as at the other end of spectrum, we are yet to have played Forest Green Rovers in the fourth tier.
ONES TO WATCH
Wrexham AFC’s Paul Mullin will certainly be looking to hit the headlines this coming season, after hitting 64 league goals in 84 outings to date for the Red Dragons.
Another striker who will also be bidding to retain his top scorer award is Bradford City’s Andy Cook, with the powerful frontman having notched 28 times in 2022/23.
Midfielder Elliot Watt came away from Salford City’s campaign with an impressive 16 assists to his name and will be aiming to push his side on to League One. He also created 109 chances – a league high.
