‘Curious’ local resident becomes Dons fan after tour

Olivia highly recommends joining one of our tours

15 March 2023

Our stadium tours have proven to be a big hit since we moved back home – and the Plough Lane experience earned a glowing endorsement from local resident Olivia Herlihy.

After her first taste of visiting the Cherry Red Records Stadium, Olivia documented her tour with an in-depth review.

Speaking after the tour, she said: “I came on one of the stadium tours – and it was brilliant. I booked it as a curious local resident, but it was so good that it's turned me into a fan!”

Stadium tours offer a fantastic way to hear about the remarkable AFC Wimbledon story, fan power acting as an unstoppable force to help us rise from the ashes and secure league football again.

Our tours chronicle 133 years of wonderful Wimbledon history, starting when our predecessors first played a match at Wimbledon Common. The story moves on through the ages to the iconic 1988 FA Cup Final win, reforming as AFC Wimbledon and moving through the leagues again, before arguably the greatest achievement of them all - moving back to Plough Lane through a fans-funded campaign.

Lasting 60-90 minutes, the tours start at the club shop, before progressing into the changing rooms, players' tunnel, and dugouts, providing a taste of what a matchday is really like at AFC Wimbledon.

After moving pitch side, our fantastic tour guides will take you in front of the Cappagh (West Stand), before progressing to the South London Movers Stand, and taking you towards the investor wall - including the names of all those who contributed to the stadium crowdfunding campaign.

Your tour will then end on a high with a visit to 'The Greatest Story' exhibition.

Please note that dressing room visits on matchdays will not always be possible.

The exhibition is the home of a unique range of football memorabilia, including medals, trophies, and photos from the remarkable rise through the leagues in the 1980s, FA Cup glory in 1988, our reformation as AFC Wimbledon, and fans watching games on bales of hay at Sandhurst!
