It's the three-year anniversary for a fantastic volunteer initiative that's deservedly earned numerous awards.
Dons Local Action Group has gone from strength to strength since its inception when it started back in 2020 as a community project to help those in crisis following the outbreak of Covid.
People of all ages have supported the cause and the picture above was taken during the early months of Dons Local Action Group.
DLAG co-founder Xavier Wiggins today thanked everyone who has supported such a vital initiative during the past three years and added that there's still a real demand for volunteers.
"This is obviously a sad and positive milestone. We shouldn't be needed, but DLAG and the South West London community have rallied superbly to support those who need us. Demand for our services is rising fast."
Since its launch, DLAG's remarkable achievements include:
- Providing food for 5 million meals
- Delivering 3,000 laptops and hundreds of items of furniture (through donations)
- Over 2,000 volunteers combining to help the community
DLAG has won numerous awards and featured on national television, but the tireless work of volunteers goes on with people of all ages working at food collection stalls outside supermarkets, sorting out items at hubs, delivering food to those in need, and carrying out admin tasks.
