"Rest and recovery will be really important"

Midfielder on maintaining our unbeaten away run

22 October 2023

Harry Pell has called for a return to winning ways, as the Dons gear up to face his former club at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

The midfielder marked his return from injury and his 32nd birthday with a second-half appearance as a substitute, helping us to extend our unbeaten run on the road.

“Hopefully we put on a good show and get back to winning ways,” said Harry, who spent just over a year with our next opponents Accrington Stanley.

The Lancashire club sit directly above us in the table in seventh and a point better off, so it promises to be a tight tussle on home turf - and we'll need more of your fantastic support to give us the edge.

“Rest and recovery are going to be really important now, as it’s a long journey back from Barrow. I’m looking forward to the next one though, it should be a good game, as they come to us off the back of a win.

“One thing I know with Accy, is that they’re a team that will roll their sleeves up, fight for the cause and run through a brick wall for the club - that’s first and foremost. I look forward to seeing their manager John Coleman and some familiar faces.”

We had chances, especially towards the end of the game, to claim a sixth victory in League Two this campaign at Holker Street.

“I thought that we stood up to what they offered and had one or two chances towards the end to take the three points,” said Harry. “I thought we were unlucky not to. As a team, we dug in against them. The pitch was really tough to play on though. It was soft and wasn’t easy to play free-flowing football.

“It is a tough place to come, and they made it very difficult. We worked all week on how we could break them down and how we could hurt them and affect the game, but it was exactly how we thought.

“Unfortunately, on the day, we couldn’t take one of our chances. We did everything we were told to do, but we didn’t take our opportunities when they arose. It’s a good point away from home.”
