Lee Brown and Ryan Johnson summed up the spirit at AFC Wimbledon as players and fans interacted after our open training session today.

After watching Johnnie Jackson put the squad through their paces, young Wimbledon supporters posed for pictures with the players and got their autographs - making the most of a day during the Easter holidays.

Lee Brown said: “To interact with the players and other fans is better than playing computer games at home! When they go back to school they’ll be talking to their mates about coming here and meeting the players, so that’s why it’s so important for the Club to host events like this.

"As players, it’s the least we can do to give something back. It was heartwarming to see the reaction of the kids to meeting us all and if we want to build a successful club you have to engage with the community and make people feel a part of AFC Wimbledon – that’s what these events do.”

Though the heavens opened this morning, the downpour failed to dampen spirits, especially with our beloved Haydon the Womble in attendance!

Our squad met the fans immediately after finishing their morning session and the event took Ryan Johnson back to when he was a child with ambitions of becoming a footballer.

“When I was a kid growing up at West Brom it meant a lot for me to attend an event like this, so I know how much it means," added Ryan.

"Fans coming to these events gain an insight into what we do every day and it’s great for the Club if it encourages them to come along to more games!

“As we head towards the end of this season, we’re going to need the fans more than ever as we try to finish strongly and that’s why it was great to interact with our supporters today. You could see that our fans were buzzing to be here, so that’s what it’s all about."
