AFC Wimbledon Women started 2024 on a real high as Kevin Foster's side brushed aside QPR - and Ashlee Hincks hit the heights once again!
Wimbledon's top scorer passed a century of goals for the Dons - and plundered one more for good measure in a resounding 7-2 win on Sunday.
Kevin Foster's side were simply unstoppable at The Powerday Stadium!
The emphatic victory at Hanwell Town's home puts the Dons in good stead for their title bid, but they had to be patient to get the ball rolling on Sunday.
It took until just before half-time for the Dons to make the breakthrough. After Ellie Dorey rattled the crossbar with a powerful drive, the opening goal came through Emily Donovan, who fired home to make it 1-0 just before the break.
However, there was not long to wait after the interval for another Wimbledon goal, Hincks latching onto a long ball before finishing emphatically into the bottom corner. The Dons started to really find that attacking flow in the second half as Hincks got her second of the game in spectacular style when she diverted the ball into the top corner after an excellent cross from Hannah Billingham.
Rosie Russell then got in on the act as she latched onto a pass from substitute Lucy Porter to make it four, before Hincks notched another goal to seal her hat-trick.
Though QPR grabbed two consolation goals in quick succession, there was no denying the Dons and Hincks, who struck 100 (achieved in only 75 competitive games) from the penalty spot after Rosie Russell had been fouled in the box. Another from Hincks put the icing on the cake - and based on this impressive display it promises to be an exciting 2024 for AFC Wimbledon Women.
