It's back on for Boca!

Supporters of the South American club will join us on Saturday

Bring on Boca at the Cherry Red Records Stadium!

After a planned visit by Boca Juniors supporters hit the buffers due to the postponement of the Crawley game, we're back on for this weekend - celebrating a proud link with the South American giants.

As reported last summer, the release of our new Umbro kits resulted in admiring glances from Argentina due to the similarities with Boca’s famous jerseys – and that led to a number of their fans wanting to come and visit!

So we'll be connecting with our friends from Boca for the Mansfield game on Saturday.

John Lynch, Managing Director at WiSH (Wimbledon in Sporting History), said: "The Club and WiSH are delighted to be hosting Boca Juniors UK on Saturday to celebrate the link.

"This is the start of a global reach-out to clubs in various countries to join us, creating a worldwide yellow and blue football family. We've already had interest from Swedish, German, and Japanese clubs, so hopefully we can really build upon this and boost the global appeal of Wimbledon."

Boca’s UK ambassador Sebastian Dieguez said: "We're thrilled to be connecting with the Dons! We both have this shared passion for the game and, more importantly, these colours that bring us together across borders. We can't wait to see our relationship grow."

We’ve put together a schedule of activities aimed to give the Boca fans a true taste of a matchday at the Cherry Red Records Stadium - and more.

This will include a five-a-side match with Boca fans taking on Dons staff and volunteers, followed by a shirt and pennant exchange. The Boca Juniors shirt will be a special version worn by their team last season that commemorated the historic shirt of the early 90s.

The fans will be given tours of the stadium and there’ll be a welcome treat for them in our Food Zone with Argentinian cuisine courtesy of La Posta!

We can’t wait to host our friends from South America, so please give them a warm Wimbledon welcome if you see them about on Saturday.

Our thanks to John Lynch and WiSH (Wimbledon in Sporting History) for helping to arrange the link with Sebastian and Boca supporters.
