Double deal! Ashlee and Ellie sign new contracts

Great news confirmed after trophy lift

8 May 2024

AFC Wimbledon Women have moved quickly to tie up two key players on new contracts after their stunning title success.

Ashlee Hincks and Ellie Dorey have signed new contracts with the Dons for the 2024/25 season, as Kevin Foster's side seek to take further strides after promotion last time around.

After joining the Dons for the 2021/22 campaign, Ashlee was swiftly out of the blocks in front of goal, showing why her signing was the coup of the season, after previously starring for Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Ashlee scored 40 goals in her first campaign with the Dons, and 35 the following season, before striking 39 in 2023/24.

"Signing for another year was a no brainer for me," said Ashlee. "Since signing for AFC Wimbledon back in June 2021 I have felt completely at home. I love everything about the Club and every time I step out onto the pitch in a Wimbledon shirt I feel very proud. Sealing promotion this season is exactly what the Club deserved and I’m excited to put pen to paper once more to continue our success and growth. Here’s to 2024/2025!

Manager Kevin Foster added: "Ashlee's goal scoring record speaks for itself, but what people don't see from the outside is a true leader within the group. Her experience of playing at the highest level will help us hugely in the new challenges of tier three."

Ellie Dorey extends her stay

After becoming a Don in time for the 2022/23 season, the former Charlton Athletic player slotted into the side seamlessly. She scored 17 goals in her first campaign, and another 14 this season. She is a versatile player who has plied her trade as a forward and also as a sweeping midfielder.

"I came back into football after a season break, and AFC Wimbledon was the perfect home for me," said Ellie. "I fell in love with the sport, the Club and all the people involved here. To come second in the previous season was heartbreaking, but to push on and and get the promotion this club deserves is a memory I’ll cherish forever.

"There are not many days in history that I want to re-live, but Sunday's trophy lift is definitely up there! Signing for another season was a no brainer. Oh to be a DON, and to continue wearing this shirt with pride."

Kevin Foster said: "Ellie has grown every year with us and become pivotal to our results in tight games when moving centrally. She knows the game and has valuable experience that will support our new challenges next season."

Sophia Axelsson, General Manager, added: "The experience of Ashlee and Ellie in the higher leagues will be hugely important for our continued success in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division. We'll come up against teams such as Ipswich Town, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle. We are so lucky to have them - bring on 2024/25!"

David Growns, Chair of AFC Wimbledon Women, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Ash and Ellie have committed to continuing our journey together."
